Alan Robert's Killogy: Gets Animated!

[embed]https://vimeo.com/126460719[/embed] Killogy is a high-energy, animated dark comedy from creator Alan Robert (Life Of Agony) based on his hit IDW Publishing comic series, in association with Squeeze Studio Animation and award-winning producer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris). Stars Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (the Ramones), Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter), and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (the Misfits) battle it out in apocalyptic-Brooklyn when an ancient voodoo curse wakes the dead and floods the city with blood. This outrageous premise and bizarre mash-up of punk rock royalty, wiseguy sarcasm, and over-the-top gore makes for one hilarious rollercoaster ride.

Killogy is being produced and developed under Robert’s Wasted Talent Entertainment banner, consisting of Robert, Chris White (V/H/S Viral) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent).

Killogy was nominated for Best Mini-Series (2013) and Best One-Shot (2014) at the Ghastly Awards and picked up a Horror Comic Award for Best Scene from ComicMonsters.com. Bloody Disgusting listed Killogy at #4 on their Top 10 Best Mini-Series of 2013. The Killogy: Halloween Special sold out within its first week of distribution and IDW immediately issued a second printing. The critically acclaimed Killogy graphic novel was recently translated in Portuguese for a Brazilian release through NFL Zine.

Alan Robert's ‘The Shunned One’ Comic Gets Big-Screen Adaptation

TheShunnedOne-Iss1-Poster_v1-web Click here to read the scoop on The Wrap!

The Coalition Group (sister firm of Radical Studios) has partnered with Wasted Talent Entertainment (Crawl to Me) to produce the Jack Reher (Grizzly, Corrosion) penned screenplay, based on Alan Robert’s forthcoming IDW comic series The Shunned One. Robert, along with his producing partners Chris White (V/H/S Viral) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent) round out Wasted Talent Entertainment. Glenn Allen, co-founder of Emmy-winning Brainstorm Digital (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire) is also on board as VFX Supervisor.

The Shunned One centers on an angel of death who goes rogue after refusing to take innocent human lives. His actions alter balance in the universe, causing a chain reaction of unforeseen disasters. As a result, a pack of vengeful death angels are sent down to hunt him. He must hide amongst the humans while trying to undo the damage he’s done.

“To watch this thing take shape as a film, even before the comic is released, is pretty amazing,” says Robert. “I think what interests people most about the property is that it isn't a typical, Biblical take on angels, whatsoever. It's a whole new mythology. You've never seen angels like this anywhere before.”

An exclusive first-look at The Shunned One comic will hit stands this Halloween inside the back pages of Killogy, another IDW comic created by Robert. IDW Publishing expects to launch The Shunned One comic series in early 2015. The books are written and illustrated by Robert, with cover paintings by acclaimed Italian comics artist Francesco Mattina.

"We couldn’t be more excited about participating in bringing Alan’s vision to life,” said Johnny Wunder, The Coalition Group's Director of Development. "In combination with Jack’s writing and Alan’s imagination I think The Shunned One will give us a unique, grounded look at The Guardian Angel.”

The Shunned One marks Robert’s third property to be adapted in recent months. Rodar Y Rodar (The Orphanage) will produce Crawl to Me with Wasted Talent Entertainment as a live-action feature, with Victor Garcia (The Damned) attached to direct a screenplay written by TJ Cimfel and David White (V/H/S Viral), and award-winning writer/producer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) is currently developing Killogy as an animated television series.

KILLOGY ANIMATED SERIES IN DEVELOPMENT FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF THE BOONDOCKS

Award-winning executive producer/writer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) has joined forces with Robert to develop an animated television series based on Killogy. Barnes and Robert will serve as executive producers on the series, with Barnes penning the screenplay for the pilot episode. Celebrities Frank Vincent, Marky Ramone and Brea Grant, who all appeared in the Killogy graphic novel, will now lend their voices to the show. Producers Chris White (My Super Psycho Sweet 16 franchise) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent) are also on board.

Killogy leverages a unique mix of humor, horror and pop culture to tell the unique tale of a group of murderers who inadvertently unleash an ancient voodoo curse upon New York. “For me, it’s all a bit surreal,” says Robert. “I basically get to mash-up some of my favorite childhood heroes, throw them into these outrageous situations, and sit back and imagine what happens next. The series practically writes itself!”

"I'm happy to see the worlds Alan has created extend into new areas beyond comics," said Chris Ryall, IDW's Chief Creative Office/Editor-in-Chief. "His comic books are so visually intriguing and the characters he's created so fully formed that they'll translate really well into animation and other areas. But I'm also glad that he's still doing more comics, and the Killogy one-shot sounds like a perfectly dark treat for Halloween, too."

Killogy was nominated for Best Mini-Series at the 2013 Ghastly Awards and picked up a Horror Comic Award for Best Scene from ComicMonsters.com. Bloody Disgusting listed Killogy at #4 on their Top 10 Best Mini-Series of 2013. The Killogy graphic novel was recently licensed out to territories outside of the U.S. and will see a Brazilian release this summer from publisher NFL ZINE. The book will be translated in Portuguese. Life of Agony to Return to the Stage this Summer

LOA Tour Dates 2014
Life of Agony is proud to announce that the band will perform in Europe this August, the first shows since the group’s lead singer Mina Caputo (formerly known as Keith Caputo) came out as transgender in 2011. The performances will take place at Belgium's Alcatraz Hard Rock & Metal Festival with Marilyn Manson on Friday, August 8th, Austria's Picture On Festival on Saturday, August 9th (headlining), Germany's Elb-Riot Festival with Machine Head on Saturday, August 16th, and Germany's X-Rockfest Festival with Machine Head on Sunday, August 17th. The famed River Runs Red lineup, rounded out by guitarist Joey Z, bassist Alan Robert and drummer Sal Abruscato are excited to take the stage together once again after a three-year hiatus.

“We’ve helped so many people around the world cope with their emotional struggles through our music, it was time to get back out there,” said Robert, regarding the group’s decision to reunite for the upcoming show. “Our songs connect with people on an emotional level because they were written out of real pain and hardship. It doesn’t matter if you’re white, black, blue, green, gay, straight, trans or whatever. Our fans know it comes from a real place and have stood by us. We’ve always worn our hearts on our sleeves. That is just who we are and that is something that will never change.”

All four Life of Agony band members have kept busy with other projects since their last performances together a few years ago. Mina Caputo released a solo album titled As Much Truth as One Can Bear with the help of a successful Indiegogo campaign. Joey Z continued to produce albums for several recording artists around the globe. Alan Robert released his third, award-winning horror graphic novel Killogy (IDW Publishing) and Sal Abruscato’s band A Pale Horse Named Death recorded its acclaimed sophomore album Lay My Soul to Waste (SPV Records).
